MONTHLY REPORT FOR APRIL-MAY 1992
The Recreation Division is proud to announce that the Part-Time Employee Award
receipiant for the third quarter of January, February, and March 1992 is Jim Stuckard. Jim
is a Recreation Leader III, Facility Coordinator who during the past three months has
provided outstanding service to the citizens utilizing ' ilavera Hills Community Center.
Congratulations are in order to Jim on a job well done!
Special Events - The Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring three Annual
Easter Egg Hunts at Stagecoach, Calavera and Holiday Community Parks. The events
will be held on April 18th beginning at 10:00 AM sharp! Donations have been received
by the Fieldstone Company and Capital Bank of Carlsbad to help make this special event
the success it is year after year. Kids Club -50 excited kids will be participating in Kids
Club day camp. Camp begins April 13th and runs through April 17th at Calavera Hills
Community Center from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a barbecue on Friday. Garage Sale
is June 6th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM sign up now! The cost is $25.00 for a 15' x 15'
space at Holiday Park. Shoppers are free! 200 volunteers needed for the 11th Annual
Carlsbad Triathlon on July 12, 1992. Contact Doug Landin at 434-2858 to sign up.
Adult Sports -
Softball - The Adult Sports section currently has -18 teams in the SpringJ92 softball
season. The 108 teams consist of 60 mens teams, 30 coed teams, a
teams. The teams play at Stagecoach Community Park, Brierley field arid" Calavera
Community Park. League play began the week of March 23, and is set to end in late
June. Basketball - The Winter/Spring 5-man basketball league is currently finishing up.
This seasons league was comprised of 31 mens teams which played on Tuesday and J^
Thursday nights at the Calavera Community gymnasium. Volleyball - The Winter/Spring jj\r
season of coed volleyball is also coming to a conclusion. 12 coed teams competed in *
the '92 Winter/Spring league. 3-Man Basketball - Registration for the Summer '92 3-man f^jft
basketball league will be held from May 4th-8th and practice games should begin May \r
26th. The league contains 3 divisions; 6 foot and under, open and century. Fees for the
league have not yet been determined. Grass Volleyball - This summers volleyball offers
something new, 4-person grass volleyball.. The courts will be set up on April 19th and
26th at Buena Vista field for open play and teams are welcome free of charge.
Registration for the grass volleyball league will be held May 4th-8th with practice games
starting on May 31st. Fees for the league have not been determined, but should be
minimal.
Computerized Registration - Our network continues to grow! Information Systems is
currently installing a network for the Parks and Recreation Department located at the
Harding Center. This phase of the City Wide Network plan included connecting Calavera
