TITLE- SPLIT PAVILION
MTG.(ACTION)
DEPT.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
It is staff's recommendation that the Parks and Recreation Commission defer any action
at this time, pending the outcome of action taken by Councils recently formed Art
Sculpture Committee.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Chairperson Castner and Commissioner Strayer specifically requested this item be
placed on the April Commission Agenda. The request was initially made during the
March 16, 1992 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.
In light of the recent decision by City Council to form an Art Sculpture Committee
whose purpose is to determine and recommend what course of action can be taken
to resolve the controversial art project, staff is recommending that the Commission
defer any actfon at this time.
The Art Sculpture Committee will be meeting with the Split Pavilion artist Andrea Blum
on Thursday, April 16, 1992 at 9:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers. Pending the
outcome of that meeting and a recommendation by the Committee to the Council, the
Parks and Recreation Commission may wish to consider that input prior to taking action
at this time.
Staff will be available to answer any questions relating to the development process and
maintenance of the art sculpture split pavilion as well as the acreage identified within
the park inventory and Parks and Recreation Element.
