RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Receive donation of Carrillo Artifact and recommend acceptance by the City Council.
ITEM EXPLANATION;
The Friends of Carrillo Ranch has been donated a gun once belonging to Leo Carrillo
(Exhibit 2) for inclusion into the City of Carlsbad's Carrillo Ranch archive collection.
The donation is a Colt, Single Action, Army Special, serial #1289 SA, manufactured in
1957. The market value has been estimated at $800 by Duncan Gun Works of San
Marcos. In addition, Craig G. Rogers, a local cabinetmaker has created and will
donate a display case for the artifact. Capital Bank of Carlsbad has also donated a safe
deposit box for the use of storage until such time as the artifact can be displayed for
public viewing.
The donation has been fully checked and cleaned by the Carlsbad Police Department
for safety purposes and will be serviced by the Department on an as needed basis.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated value of this donation is $800. There will be no cost to the City for
acceptance.
