P & R TITLE: REQUEST FOR JOINT COMMISSION WORKSHOP (ACTION) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Consider a request by the San Marcos Community Services Commission to hold a multi- commission workshop. Direct staff to respond accordingly. ITEM EXPLANATION: The San Marcos Community Services Commission has suggested holding a multi- commission workshop with the Parks & Recreation/Community Services Commission of the cities of Oceanside, Vista, Escondido, Carlsbad, and San Marcos (Exhibit 1). Two purposes were suggested. The individual commissioners would gain perspective on the similarities of their roles. Commissioners would also have an opportunity to discuss local projects in a regional context and perhaps benefit from other cities practical or philosophical lessons, learned over the years. , ' • ' ' ' 'The initial concept is to make it a "working" social...a Saturday morning workshop in a nice setting followed by a casual catered lunch.•• . i • I'll call each of you by -Christmas to determine the level of interest in 1) holding such a gathering 2) style and topical suggestions for the half-day event.
