TITLE:
RECEIPT OF DONATION K
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Receive donation of artifacts for the Carrillo Ranch and recommend acceptance by the City
Council.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Historic Preservation Commission recently received donations of artifacts once
belonging to Leo Carrillo. The articles were received from a Mr. Huey Rolls and
subsequently were presented to Mrs. Joan Kindle, the Volunteer Curator of Carrillo Ranch
memorabilia. Although many individual items were obtained, the collective value is
estimated to be well in excess of $500. Therefore, in accordance with City Ordinance No.
1295, the donations must receive City Council approval. If the Parks and Recreation
Commission concurs, staff will proceed with actions necessary from the City Council to
accept these donations.

RE: DONATED LEO CARRILLO ARTIFACTS
Attached is an inventory of the articles recently donated to
the City's Historic Preservation Commission by Mr. Huey Rolls Of
Vista on behalf of his wife Terry and her father Mr. Willard
Klafehn. I am extremely pleased with the generosity this family
has exhibited and hope others continue to share their treasures
for the future benefit of all our citizens.
For the City's records, the following is my very
conservative estimate of the value of this donation:
525 photos (unframed & framed) @ $10.00 each $5,250
5 hats (3 @ $300, 1 @ $500, 1 @ $900) 2.300
TOTAL $7,550
While the remaining items have interpretive and educational
value, there is no practical way to determine their monetary
worth. May I recommend this collection be formally accepted by
the City and our sincerest appreciation extended to the donors?
If I can be of further assistance or answer questions for
staff, please contact me at 438-1666.
Sincerely,
C: Keith Beverly - P&R J
