1.Letter - To David Bradstreet from Bob Hill
Dear Mr. Bradstreet:
J have been involved in the City of Carlsbad Recreation Department junior
basketball program for the past four years as a coach, assistant coach, co-
coach. player parent and entertained spectator. I have very much enjoyed
each role and each year. I know that when you go to the gym on Saturday
and ?ec (he hubbub of activity, the tons of kids having a great time, the
parents cheering i mostlyj, the packs of gym rats making new friends, talking
B-bail. and checking out next week s opponent, you can see what recreation
and youth sports is supposed to be all about. Each year my teams, parents
uiid myself have had a great time. All of the coaches have enjoyed our
association and, in fact, some of this years coaches were parents of kids I've
had on my teams in the past. Each has said that it was a great experience
and they would definitely do it again. One thing that I try to point out to the
parents is that this does not just happen, that there is a great deal of work
iinri time put m by your department and its personnel to make this such a
•juccessf ui program. Each year the people at all levels have been great at
:A'liat they du. The rec aides at the gyms have always been great at
a-ntroiling a chaos of practices. The Lorie s, Robin, Sondee, Tarni, and Jim
Brudshaw have been very efficient in running their program. 1 have been
involved in football, baseball and soccer, and your basketball program is at
the top as far as a smooth, successful and enjoyable recreation programs for
the kids of Carlsbad.
We have been fortunate enough to be able to play in the post-season
tournaments, and each year get to check out other facilities around the
county. There is no doubt that Carlsbad has had the best facilities we have
played at. Other city's coaches have remarked about the gyms, park sites,
amenities (the gatorade set-up at Stagecoach was a nice touch), class and
competence which Carlsbad Rec provides. It gives me pride, and I know you
too, to say "come play in our yard and see what a great thing we have going
here at Carlsbad "
Thank vou and ALL the people involved in the program. Your efforts and
hard work are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely.
P.S. I am not Jim s brother or Sondee s boyfriend. Just appreciate being
involved in such a well run program.
