Parks & Recreation Commission Summary Report - June 19, 1995 12 o o June 22, 1995 TO: MAYOR LEWIS MAYOR PROTEM NYGAARD CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: Community Services Director SUMMARY REPORT OF PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING - JUNE 19, 1995 Consent Calendar The following items were unanimously approved by the Commission (6-0). 1. AB# 695-1 Director's Report - April 17. 1995 2. AB# 695-2 Summary Report - April 17, 1995 Parks & Recreation Commission 3. AB# 695-3 Receipt of Donation - $300 for toddler preschool playground equipment. - 4. AB# 695-4 Receipt of Donations - $2,700 in both money and in-kind services to support youth programs and clinics. 5. AB# 695-5 Citizen Letter/Easter Kidz Camp - Supporting the spring break youth camp. 6. AB#695-6 Citizen Letter/Jefferson Street Widening - Commending the City's efforts to improve bicycle accessibility and safety. 7. AB# 695-7 Receipt of Donation/Rock Hoppers - $200 to support park sites and facilities. 8. AB# 695-8 Downtown Streetscape Project - Informational update on the completed Streetscape Project. Public Hearings - None DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 9. AB#695-9 Spinnaker Hill Tot Lot Reguest - The Commission voted 4-2 to approve a citizen request to develop a small neighborhood tot lot in the vicinity of Spinnaker Hill with the following conditions. o June 22, 1995 Page Two • That it be installed and maintained to the standards acceptable to the Park Superintendent, at no cost to the City. • That the operation be reviewed on an annual basis to determine the tot lot's longevity. • That an agreement be entered into between the applicant and the City prior to installation to confirm issues and expectations related but not limited to insurance requirements, maintenance, development standards, annual review, and removal if necessary. 10. AB#695-10 Chase Field/Community Oriented Policing - The Commission unanimously (6-0) directed staff to work with the Carlsbad Police Department and community user groups to address police concerns in the vicinity of Chase Field. 11. AB#695-11 Community Services Department FY 1995-96 Annual Operating Budget - The Commission received an informational update on the recently adopted Community Services Department Annual Operating Budget.
