AB # 196-5 TITLE: ARTS COMMISSION REQUEST/SCULPTURE FOR
TG 1/15/96 HOSP GROVE (SUA) (ACTION)

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
If the Commission concurs, approve a recommendation of the Arts Commission to place a
sculpture in Hosp Grove SUA.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Arts Commission is requesting the Parks and Recreation Commission approve the placement
of the sculpture "Mother Earth, Father Sky" within the recently developed Hosp Grove Special Use
Area. Staff is in accord with this request should the Commission concur.
The Arts Manager and Park Development Coordinator will be available to answer specific
questions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Minimal expense would be required for installation.

PLACEMENT OF SCULPTURE IN HO3P GROVE PARK
The Arts Commission voted unanimously to request placement of the recently purchased
sculpture "Mother Earth, Father Sky" in the newly developed Hosp Grove Park.
At the time of purchase, City Council requested that the sculpture be placed on City
property, either a park or in front of a dty building. The Arts Commission felt that this
was an appropriate place for the artwork.
Would you please place this item on the Parks and Recreation Commission agenda for
its January meeting. Let me know if you need more information. Thanks.
