The month of February began both the Spring 5-person Basketball Leagues and our

Softball leagues are just two teams short of full capacity, to 12 teams from last season.
His on-going commitment to the Adult Sports Leagues is reaping results.
Congratulations, Andy!
Jill Prichard, Andy's supervisor, would like to wish him a happy honeymoon as he
prepares to be married at the end of March.
Congrats!! to the bride and groom.

from throughout the County converge on North County for the culminating tourney.
Good luck to all young competitors!

Also on tap is a Youth Spring Camp, slated for the week leading in to Easter. Kids will
have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional "Kidz Camp" that emphasizes arts, crafts and
games, or a new version that concentrates on sports. Spring vacation need not be dull
when you can pick and choose an exciting week of activities through our Special Events
Section.
JLGOLF CLUB DRIVE
The recent Youth Golf Clinic, held Saturday, February 24 at the Olympic Resort was a
resounding success. A large part of the success is due to the overwhelming response
of the community in donating clubs, bags and balls as part of the "Golf Club Drive",
spearheaded by Parks and Recreation Commissioner, Bob Holmes. Hundreds of clubs
and thousands of balls were donated, and as a result, each youngster was sent home
with clubs, a handful of balls, and in many cases a very nice drawing prize of other golf
equipment. Much thanks must go to all in the community that were so generous in their
donations. Staff also thanks Mr. Holmes for the inspiration to begin the "Club Drive" and
see it through to a successful completion.
INSTRUCTIONAL CLASSES
At the recent "Professional Dance Network Convention & Competition" in Palm Springs,
students from Michelle Alspaw's city classes were the recipients of numerous prestigious
scholarship awards. Three (3) students received scholarships to attend the well-known
"Darryl Retters Academy" in Los Angeles while three (3) other students received
scholarships to attend future "PDN" Conventions. Michelle's students continue to exhibit
tremendous prowess in the various dance disciplines and credit must be given to
Michelle for the on-going dedication and expertise in leading her troupe to numerous
awards and honors!
