ITEM EXPLANATION: Attached is the Summary Report of the March 18, 1996 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. EXHIBITS: 1. Summary Report/Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting - March 1996 March 22, 1996 TO: MAYOR LEWIS MAYOR PRO-TEM NYGAARD CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: Community Services Director SUMMARY REPORT OF THE MARCH 18, 1996 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING. Consent Calendar: The following items were unanimously (7-0) approved by the Commission: 1. AB #396-1 Director's Report - March 1996. 2. AB #396-2 Summary Report - February 5, 1996 Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting. 3. AB #396-3 Receipt of Donations - The Commission received donations of $1,000 in products (golf clubs) from Taylor-Made Golf Co. in support of the Youth Golf Clinic and $200 cash in support of the Youth Track Meet from the Carlsbad Village Optimist Club. The Commission recommended acceptance by the City Council. Public Hearings - None. Departmental Reports 4. AB #396-4 Citizen Request/Advertising Concepts - In an effort to pursue a citizen request to implement advertising concepts as a means to reduce operation costs and generate revenue, a Commission subcommittee was formed to further evaluate the issue. 5. AB #396-5 City Council Cultural/Recreational Goals for 1996 - As an informational item, the Commission reviewed the Council goals and accompanying objectives for Cultural//Recreational. EXHIBIT 1 6. AB #396-6 FY 1996-97 Parks and Recreation Division Budget Request - Staff presented the proposed budget request for the Parks and Recreation Division of the Community Services Department. The Commission accepted the staff report as an informational item. 7. AB #396-7 Poinsettia Community Park Development Update - The Commission received a staff report on the status of Phase I development of the park site. 8. AB #396-8 Carrillo Ranch/Historic Plaque - The Commission accepted the proposed wording on the historic plaque for the California State Landmark designation. The application, and proposed wording, must now be approved by the State Office of Historic Preservation and Historic Resources Commission respectively.
