Approval of Landmark Status and Plaque.
On Friday, May 3, 1996, the State Historical Resources Commission voted unanimously to place-the
Leo Carrillo Ranch on the California Register of Historic Resources as a State Landmark. In addition,
the placement of a plaque on the property was also approved.
We should arrange a meeting at the site with NGH Tom Rouse, Dr. Chamberlain, Ken Rice, Bill Webb
and Joe Hart of ECV and anyone you feel appropriate to discuss the following:
1.. Final wording of the plaque (see recommended wording attached).
2. Placement of the plaque.
3. Potential dates for the dedication. It takes about two months to have a plaque made
and another two weeks to organize and build the monument. Tom Rouse would like
to dedicate the plaque along with a picnic on July 28, 1996 (Sunday).
4. Formal agreement between ECV and the City of Carlsbad as to the payment of the
plaque and its erection.
5. Publicity credit and ECV's participation in the dedication.
Please check the meeting date(s) you could attend and call me.
