ITEM EXPLANATION: Attached is the Summary Report of the July Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting. EXHIBITS: 1. Summary Report - July Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting. I IT July 16, 1996 TO: MAYOR LEWiS MAYOR PROTEM NYGAARD CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: Community Services Director SUMMARY REPORT OF THE JULY 15, 1996 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING Presentations Introduction of the two new Commissioners - Dennis Cunningham and Bob Richards. Consent Calendar The following items were unanimously approved by the Commission: 1. AB 796-1 Directors Report - July 1996 2. AB 796-2 Summary Report - May 20. 1996 Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting 3. AB 796-3 Receipt of Donation - $250.00 Was received from the Bristol Cove Property Owner's Association in support of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Clean Up. 4. AB 796-4 Receipt of Donation - $375.00 Was received from the Welcome Wagon/Newcomer's Club of Carlsbad in support of the Kruger House pres'chool program. 5. AB 796-5 Receipt of Donation - 3 Flag Poles Was received from Mrs. Ann Cannova at a value totaling $900.00. These poles will be installed at future City facilities / parks. Public Hearings - None. Departmental Reports 6. AB 596-6 Spinnaker Hill Tot Lot / Citizen Request After staff report, and citizen testimony, the Commission unanimously (6-0) approved the alternative to continue the annual review period based upon completion date of the tot lot development. Mrs. Dianne Brink came before the Commission to ask that the City adopt the tot lot. The Commission will review this issue again in March 1997. 15 EXHIBIT 1 7 AB 796-7 Joint Use Proposal / San Dieauito Union High School District The Commission received information on a joint use agreement with SDUHSD and the City's Recreational Facilities. 8. AB 796-8 City Council Agenda Bill #1 3734 / Authorization of a Skateboard Committee The Commission received information regarding the formation of a skateboard committee. Committee Reports A staff update was given on the progress of the Carrillo Ranch Master Plan Committee. The meeting adjourned to Poinsettia Community Park for an informational update and tour of the Phase I development.
