PRESCHOOL
Carlsbad's Fire Department visited Kruger House Preschool in their new bright red fire

learn what a fireman does. They received a call at the close of the session and the
kids got to see them operate in high gear, what a thrill!

LEO CARRILLO RANCH MASTER PLAN
On Saturday, October 12, a public workshop was held to gather input into the Master
Plan for the Carrillo Ranch. The Leo Carrillo Ranch is slated to become a 27 acre
community park with emphasis on historical, cultural, and passive recreation. The
workshop was all day and included an overview of the master plan process, slide show
of Leo's life, tour of the Ranch, Mexican lunch, and workshop sessions. Thirty-five
interested members of the community attended and the workshop was very successful
in bringing out ideas, concerns and aspirations for what should ultimately occur at the
Ranch.
Staff and the Master Plan consultants will synthesize information recorded at the
workshop and will use this information to refine ideas for the park's development. This
is the first of several workshops during the processing of the Master Plan.
POINSETTIA PARK
All the major construction items for Phase I are complete with the exception of the
surfacing on the tennis courts, to be completed in several weeks.
The park is in it's second month of the "maintenance period". This is the time when the
grass is allowed to "grown in" and establish and when fertilization and weeding is
crucial. The contractor is responsible for the maintenance and is expected to turn over
to the City, a well established finished park project.
Poinsettia Park Phase I is scheduled to be open to the public the first part of January.
Stay tunedfor the date of the "GRAND OPENING" dedication ceremonies.
