SUMMARY REPORT OF THE SEPTEMBER 16, 1996 PARKS AND RECREATION
COMMISSION MEETING
CONSENT CALENDAR
The following items were unanimously (7-0) approved by the Commission:
1. AB 996-1 Directors Report - September, 1996
2. AB 996-2 Summary Report - August 19, 1996, Parks and Recreation Commission
Meeting
3. AB 996-3 Receipt of Donations
The Commission received donations totaling $28,800 in products and services in
support of the 1996 Triathlon and recommended acceptance by the City Council.
4. AB 996-4 Receipt of Donations
The Commission received donations of product and services totaling $15,070 in
support of the 1996 Bodysurfing Contest and recommended acceptance by the
City Council.
5. AB 996-5 Request for Tree(s) Removal at 3280 Donna Drive
The Commission unanimously recommended (7-0) that a staff recommendation
to remove three (3) trees at 3280 Donna Drive be further evaluated at a
subcommittee level to identify possible alternatives to the tree removal.
6. AB 996-6 Aqua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation (AHLR Request
After considering a request of the AHLF to initiate a full and thorough analysis of
the Agua JHedionda Lagoon's potential to provide recreation activities for the
citizens of Carlsbad, the Commission directed the issue back to staff. Staff will
return to the Commission with additional information pending Council direction
regarding the scope of the proposed Agua Hedionda Lagoon Study area as
discussed during the September 10, 1996 City Council meeting.
