TITLE: NATIONAL YOUTH SPORTS COACHES
ASSOCIATION UPDATE (INFO)
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Accept and file staff report.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Several months ago, the Commission recommended that the Recreation Division train
designated employees as National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) clinicians. The
purpose of this action was to devise a coaches training program for departmental volunteer
youth sport coaches. During the October meeting, Commissioner Davidson requested an update
on the status of this program. Recreation Supervisor, Jim Bradshaw will provide a status update
regarding implementation of the NYSCA program to date.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To date, approximately 20 hours of staff time has been required to obtain clinician status for
three (3) Recreation division staff personnel.
