ADULT SPORTS
Adult Sports Coordinator, Sendee Oiler, reports that 97 teams took the diamond
recently as Fall Softball '97 began. Sendee believes that the program's Men's
Leagues count more teams playing than ever before.
AQUATICS
As the end of the summer approaches, we are busily preparing for our Fall
season. When our Fall months begin, many of our water safety instructors and
lifeguards return to their schools and our loyal year-round staff stay on to help us
with our important lessons and programs in the Fall. Among those leaving us is
Senior Instructor Jen Hartman who helped coordinate many of our most
important summer programs. As for the approaching Fall, the programs in which
we are most actively taken in our preparations are our learn-to-swim lessons,
recreation and lap swimming, masters and NCA age group swim teams, Aqua-X
aquatic aerobics, high school waterpolo, swim teams, and our age group
waterpolo teams. Our walk in and phone registration for our fall lessons begins
on Monday, August 11th. Also, we are having our parking lot redone so that
more spaces are created for our busy facility. We are looking forward to a great
fall.
BENEFIT DANCE RECITAL
On June 13th and 14th, Linda Wilkerson, a department dance instructor, and 120
of her students performed a recital to benefit the Pediatric Aids Foundation. A
total of $1,735 was raised through ticket sales and bake sale items.
Congratulations to Linda, her students and all the parents and families that gave
of their time for this most worthy cause.
CAMPS / SPECIAL EVENTS.
Marc Beasley, Special Events Coordinator, relays the info. That all "kidz camps"
are busting at the seems with record numbers of kids participating. Each one
week session has seen well over 80 kids at Holiday, Calavera Hills, and
Stagecoach Park. Changing gears quickly with little more than a Deep breath,
Marc and staff are preparing for the 19th edition of the International Bodysurfing
Championships. Marc reports that the contest is huge, the swells even bigger
and fun for all in store on the weekend of August 9th and 10th.

July 10th was a wonderful experience for 25 seniors, as we were entertained
under the "big top" by Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey Circus. We all felt
like kids again.
San Juan Capistrano Mission on July 12th was our Senior Staff Safari event.

dance and laughter.
YOUTH SPORTS
Jessica Hagan, Bryan Hargett and staff are currently in the midst of running the
contract camp portion of the summer program. Anything from Water Skiing to
Lacrosse to Bodyboarding is offered this summer, and Jessica and Bryan are
overseeing the more than 30 offerings throughout the summer. While
sometimes hectic, Jessica and Bryan have also had the opportunity to help with
camps when additional staff has been required. An example: Water Skiing
Camp - they help on the Jet Skis, in the Kayaks and on the boat as needed. It's
not all work around the Youth Sports Section!
