APPOINTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSIONER TO SERVE
ON THE SELECTION COMMITTEE FOR PUBLIC ART FOR THE CARLSBAD
GOLF COURSE
The City of Carlsbad has appropriated funds to integrate art into the Carlsbad Golf
Course. An RFQ has been distributed, with the application deadline, October 20, 1997.
The Carlsbad Arts Office is inviting a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission
to participate in the process as a member of the Selection Committee. The Selection
Committee will be comprised of one Arts Commissioner, one Parks and Recreation
Commissioner, two members of the Golf Advisory Committee, the Architect and
Landscape Architect, and up to two artists.
Committee members will meet once to look at slides submitted and select finalists.
Finalists will be asked to design concepts and make models to present to the Committee
as the second step of the process. The Committee will meet again to select the final
selection(s). The Committee will meet a total of 2 to 3 times over the next few months.
The first meeting will be scheduled for the beginning of November.
Would you please place this item on the Parks and Recreation Commission October
agenda so that the Commission may make an appointment at that time.
Please call if you have further questions. I will plan to attend the meeting in case the
Commission needs additional information.
