YOUTH SPORTS
Bryan Hargett, the Youth Sports Coordinator, reports that all registration for Youth
Basketball is complete, and more than 700 youngsters will be competing at Calavera
Hills and Stagecoach gymnasiums starting December 6. High School sign-ups are yet
to take place, which will increase the total program to well over 750 kids, a record for
the Department!
SPECIAL EVENTS
Marc Beasley and staff completed their Annual Fall Festival Carnival at Calavera Hills
on Saturday, November 1. Many hundred of kids enjoyed a number of games! Marc's
staff next looks forward to two weeks of Holiday Day Camp, scheduled for the weeks of
Christmas and New Year's.
DAYTRIPPERS
Feeling Lucky? The Viejas Casino is on our schedule for the month of November. In
December, the "Crystal Cathedral" in Garden Grove will be the site of our annual
excursion that includes the witnessing of the Annual Holiday Show, "The Reason For
The Season." Wrapping up the Holiday Season is the popular annual trip to witness the
Rose Parade in Pasadena.
AQUATICS
The Swim Complex is well into its fall schedule. As usual we have a number of
programs going on in addition to our regular lap and recreation swim. The Carlsbad
High School's boys waterpolo team is nearing the end of their season, getting ready for
the playoffs. They won their league, and expect to battle hard in the playoffs. We are
nearing the end of our swim lessons for the year. Our last session is just about over.
We have taught over 1,800 participants in our swim lessons this year, with demand for
lots more. As always the Masters, Aqua X, and North Coast swim programs are going
strong, with Elementary and Jr. High water polo programs going Monday through
Thursday evenings. Finally, its time to start thinking about the holiday season, keep in
mind an unlimited use swim pass for friends and loved ones. They're very inexpensive
and available only through us.
