SUMMARY REPORT OF THE DECEMBER 15,1997 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MEETING
PRESENTATIONS - The Commission acknowledged the Merit Award received from the San Diego
Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects for the design of Hosp Grove Park Special
Use Area.
CONSENT CALENDAR - The following consent items were unanimously (5-0) approved by the
Com mission.
1. AB#1 297-1 DIRECTOR’S REPORT - December 1997
2. AB#1297-2 SUMMARY REPORT - November 20, 1997 Parks and Recreation Commission
meeting.
3. AB#1 297-3 COMMISSION WORKSHOP SUMMARY OF DATA - The Commission received a
summary of data prepared as a result of a Commission workshop held November 12, 1997.
4. AB#1297-4 HOSP GROVE PARK AWARD RECOGNITION - The Commission received
information relative to a Design Award received from the American Society of Landscaped
Architects.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS
5. AB#1 297-5 SKATEBOARD PARK DESIGN CONSIDERATION - The Commission unanimously
(6-0)approved the preliminary design for the Skateboard Park prepared as a result of input
received through the public workshops and from the expertise of the design consultants. The
Commission further directed staff to proceed to City Council for their review.
6. AB#1297-6 ANNUAL ELECTION OF PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION OFFICERS -
Commissioner Baker was unanimously re-elected to serve as Commission Chairperson for 1998.
Commissioner Cunning ham received the sole nomination for Vice-Chair and consequently was
also unanimously elected.
