RECOMMENDED ACTION : I Receive donations of one hundred and seventy five dollars ($175) in merchandise in
support of the Youth Track Training Clinic; one thousand three hundred dollars ($1,300) in
cash in support of the Recreation Opportunity Grants Scholarship Fund; and one hundred
and forty five dollars ($145) in cash in support of the Stay ‘N’ Play program; and
recommend that City Council accept these donations.
The following organizations offered donations of either cash or product in support of the
listed programs.

The Steve Scott Youth Track Training Clinic was held Saturday, April 25th, 1998.
Approximately 150 youngsters enjoyed a free clinic learning how to increase their speed
and flexibility. Participants received bottled water and energy bars and a participation
medal.
The Stay ‘N’ Play program provides after school supervision and recreation for youths in
the northwest quadrant. The donations helped to offset the cost of a field trip to Knott’s
Berry Farm for participants.
The Recreation Opportunity Grants program gives youths who cannot normally afford to
participate an opportunity to experience a wide variety of City sponsored recreation
programs. Donated funds help to pay for the youth scholarships.
Letters of appreciation have been sent out on behalf of the Parks and Recreation
Commission.
