RECOMMENDED ACTION : Receive in-kind donations totaling approximately three
hundred ($300) dollars in support of the Carlsbad Swim Complex’s “Pumpkin Plunge”
event and recommend the donations be accepted by the City Manager.
ITEM EXPl ANATION : The “Pumpkin Plunge” was an aquatic Halloween carnival held at
the Carlsbad Swim Complex on Saturday, October 24,1998. Staff decorated the facility,
conducted aquatic games for children and gave out prizes and treats. Ninety children took
home pumpkins from the “Pumpkin Toss” game. Treats and pumpkins were donated by
the following local businesses:

FISCAL IMPACT;
Approximately three hundred ($300) dollars in products were donated by the above listed
businesses to enhance the Carlsbad Swim Complex’s “Pumpkin Plunge” event. All
donations offset cost to City in providing a quality aquatic carnival.

Dear Michael,
The City of Carlsbad Swim Complex Staff thanks you for the pumpkins you
generously donated to our Halloween aquatic carnival. The “Pumpkin Plunge”
was attended by more than 100 children and their families. Staff conducted
aquatic games, decorated the facility, handed out treats and gave away prizes.
The event was enjoyed immensely by participants and staff.
Please accept our gratitude for helping make this event possible. Enclosed are
photographs which demonstrate the fun you helped bring to our community’s
youth.
