Summary Report - March 1999 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. 015 March 30, 1999 TO: MAYOR LEWIS MAYOR PRO-TEM HALL CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: RECREATION & PARK PLANNING MANAGER SUMMARY REPORT OF THE MARCH 15, 1999 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING CONSENT CALENDAR The following consent calendar items were unanimously (7-0) approved by the Commission: 1. AB # 399-1 COMMISSIONER’S REPORT - March 1999. 2. AB # 399-2 SUMMARY REPORT - January Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting. - DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS c 3. AB #399-3 LA COSTA YOUTH ORGANIZATION (LCYO) REQUEST - After a presentation by LCYO requesting the Recreation Department to assume the scheduling responsibilities for the advanced development of ballfields at the future La Costa Valley Junior High School site, the Commission unanimously referred the issue back to staff for further evaluation and a recommendation for consideration by the Commission at the next meeting. 4. A6 #399-4 CARLSBAD WATERSHED NETWORK (CWN) REQUEST / INSTALLATION OF BENCH AND PLAQUE -The Commission unanimously approved the installation of a donated bench and commem plaque will be located in Hosp Grove adjacent to the newly created trail. AB#399-5 CARLSBAD. A CHANGING PROFILE - The Commission received a presentation outlining a number of socio-economic and demographic attributes that make up the Carlsbad community. 6. AB #399-6 COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENT - Commission members accepted assignments to standing committees for the 1999 calendar year. Those committees are; Parksite and Facility Planning, School District Liaison, and Street Tree. 016 EXHIBIT 1 7. AB#399-7 STATUS UPDATE / PINE SCHOOL ACQUISITION - Staff updated the Commission on the recent approval of the Memorandum of Understanding between CUSD and the City of Carlsbad outlining the acquisition strategy for the Pine School site. Both agencies have agreed upon and selected an appraiser who is in the process of completing that assignment. 8. AB#399-8 VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION EVENT - The Commission was informed of the Volunteer Awards Recognition event scheduled for March 24, 1999 beginning at 6:OO p.m. at the Gemological Institute of America.
