ITEM EXPLANATION : Attached is a copy of the Summary Report of the June 1999 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. EXHIBITS: 1. Summary Report - June 21, 1999 Parks and Recreation Commission. ,- June 30, 1999 TO: MAYOR LEWIS MAYOR PRO-TEM HALL CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: RECREATION DIRECTOR SUMMARY REPORT OF THE JUNE 21,1999 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING CONSENT CALENDAR The following consent calendar items were unanimously (4-0) approved by the Commission. - 1. AB # 699-1 COMMISSIONER’S REPORT - To accept and file the Commissioner’s Report for June 1999. 2. AB #699-2 SUMMARY REPORT - To approve, accept and file the Summary Report of the May I999 Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting 3. AB 699-3 RECEIPT OF DONATION - The Commission received a donation of $661 in support of the Opportunity Grants Scholarship Fund and recommended acceptance by the City Council. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 4. AB 699-4 HABITAT MANAGEMENT PLAN PRESENTATiON - The Commission received a staff rqn,? from Senior Planner, Don Rideout outlining the Habitat Management Plan, focusing on the parks component and how the plan influences existing and future parksites. 5. AB 699-5 CITIZEN REQUEST / GRANT OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE CARRILLO RANCH - After receiving a request to aggressively search and apply for grant opportunities for the Carrillo Ranch, the Commission unanimously (4-0) directed staff to continue to support, pursue and share information with the Friends of Carrillo Ranch with respect to grant opportunities. 7 22 EXHIBIT 1 6. AB 699-6 CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 2.36 “PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION - The Commission reviewed their duties and responsibilities as established by the Municipal Code, including issues related to terms, vacancies, meetings, duties, powers generally, disposition of moneys, budget and power delegated (advisory). 7. AB 699-7 CITY / SCHOOL MEETING - Staff updated the Commission on the issues discussed during the City / Scbol Coordinating Committee meetings in May and June 1999.
