ITEM EXPLANATION : Attached is the Summary Report of the November 20,2000 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. EXHIBITS: 1. Summary Report - November 20,2000 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting December 1,2000 TO: MAYOR LEWIS MAYOR PRO TEM HALL CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS I FROM: SENIOR MANAGEMENT ANALYST SUMMARY REPORT OF THE NOVEMBER 20,2000 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING CONSENT CALENDAR 1. AB #1100-1 COMMISSIONERS REPORT - The Commission unanimously accepted the Commissioner’s Report for November 2000. 2. AB #1100-2 SUMMARY REPORT - The Commission unanimously accepted the Summary Report of the October 16, 2000 Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting. 3. AB #I 100-3 RECEIPT OF DONATIONS - The Commission received a $425 donation to the Opportunity Grants Scholarship Program. The donation was given by the Carlsbad Youth Baseball Association. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS -. . 4. AB #I1004 ZONE 19 PARK MASTER PLAN UPDATE -An informational update was provided to the Commission regarding the status of the Park Master Plan process for the park site located in Zone 19. The Commission was also informed of the Park Planning Community Workshop to be held December 7, from 5 pm - 8pm at the Dove Library. - 5. AB #1100-5 CHARLENE CIRCLE TREE RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND REFORESTATION PLAN - The Charlene Circle Tree Reforestation, Removal and Management Plan was unanimously endorsed by the Commission. There was no public opposition to the plan. 6. AB #1100-6 DOG PARK DEVELOPMENT UPDATE -The Commission was informed that the proposed Dog Park will be an agenda item during the December 6,2000 Planning Commission meeting. The request is for approval of a Negative Declaration and Addendum and a Conditional Use Permit. 7. AB #I 100-7 LEDGERWOOD MEMORIAL TRIBUTE COMMITTEE UPDATE - Unanimous approval was rendered by the Commission in regards to the recommendation of a subcommittee formed to review ways in which to pay tribute to Mr. Charles Ledgerwood. After considering a proposal by the Carlsbad Arboretum Foundation, the subcommittee recommended to pay tribute by planting a tree with a plaque in Magee Park. In addition, the recommendation also included pursuing the installation of a plaque at Mr. Ledgerwood’s former residence/business along Carlsbad Blvd. 8. AB #I 100-8 CHASE FIELD CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT - The Commission unanimously endorsed the addition of batting cages to the Chase Field complex and directed staff to include the amenity as part of the Conditional Use Permit review by the Planning Commission.
