Appoint Commissioners on a voluntary basis to serve on committee assignments on an as
needed basis.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
During the December, 2000 meeting, the Commission recommended to review the committee
assignments for the 2001 calendar year during the January meeting. The item was subsequently
deferred at both the January and March meetings.
After discussion at the April meeting the Commission recommended to reduce the number of
standing committees to include only the Park Site Facility Planning and Naming Committee and
the Street Tree Committee.
In addition, staff was directed to return with a list of park sites currently in the development or
planning stage so Commissioners can volunteer and be appointed to serve on an as needed
basis with issues related to a specific park site. It was further discussed that the trails issue
would be considered as a subsection of the Park Site Facility Planning and Naming Committee.
Finally, staff was directed to include a listing of the Parks and Recreation Commissioners and
their term expiration dates. Listed below are the committees requiring appointment of
Commissioners and a list of park sites currently under planning and/or development.
