ITEM EXPLANATION : Attached is the Summary Report of the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting of June 18,2001 EXHIBITS: 1. Summary Report - June 18,200 1 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. June 20,2001 TO: MAYOR LEWIS F MAYOR PRO TEM KULCHIN CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: SENIOR MANAGEMENT ANALYST SUMMARY REPORT OF THE JUNE 18,2001 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING CONSENT CALENDAR 1. AB #601-I COMMISSIONER’S REPORT - The Commissioners unanimously accepted the report outlining departmental information for May/June 2001. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 2. AB #601-2 REQUEST FROM NORTH COUNTY ITALIAN ASSOCIATION FOR A BOCCE BALL FACILITY - After hearing a request for the bocce ball facility, the Commission unanimously recommended that the Association be notified of all public input forums concerning the development of future park sites so that their request may be considered as part of the park development process. 3. AB #601-3 REQUEST BY CINGULAR WIRELESS FOR CELLULAR SITE AT STAGECOACH COMMUNITY PARK - The Commission unanimously approved a request to locate the cell site at . Stagecoach Park in consideration of monthly lease revenue to the City and development of a storage facility to benefit the Community Center/Gymnasium. The request will be forwarded to the Planning Commission for further consideration. - 4. AB #6014 PRESENTATION CONCERNING THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR YOUTH SPORTS - After a presentation from Commissioner Davidson, the Commission unanimously recommended to investigate the implementation of sportsmanship standards and enhancement programs promoted by the National Alliance for Youth Sports. In addition, staff was directed to report at the August meeting on ways that the Department has begun to initiate such actions in its’ recreation programs. 5. AB #601-5 REMAINING DEVELOPMENT WITHIN ZONES 5.13 AND 16 OF THE LOCAL FACILITIES MANAGEMENT PLAN - The Commission accepted an update on the amount of projected development remaining to occur within the industrial corridor. The report focused on the amount of anticipated funding that will be collected in support of the industrial recreation park site.
