SUMMARY REPORT OF THE AUGUST 20,2001 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING
CONSENT CALENDAR
The following consent items were unanimously (5 - 0) approved.
1. AB # 801-1 COMMISSIONERS REPORT - August 2001
2. AB # 801-2 SUMMARY REPORT - For the June 18,2001 Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting.
3. AB # 801-3 RECEIIT OF DONATIONS - $36,907 in cash, product and services supporting the Triathlon.
4. AB # 801-4 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF DONATION TO TIE OPPORTUNITY GRANTS
PROGRAM - $250 contribution from the Carlsbad City Employees Association.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS
5. AB # 801-5 PRESENTATION CONCERNING THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR YOUTH SPORTS - PAYS) - The Commission unanimously (5 - 0) approved efforts to implement an enhancement of
sportsmanship philosophies and apply a sportsmanship action plan to the Carlsbad recreation programs and at
it's recreation facilities.
6. AB # 801-6 REOUEST BY AT&T FOR CELLULAR SITE AT POINSETTIA COMMUNITY PARK -
This item was deferred until the September meeting.
7. AB # 801-7 SALE OF .6 ACRES OF VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK TO KELLY RANCH - The
Commission received a report on the proposed sale of .6 acres of parkland to Kelly Ranch for the purpose of
constructing a roadway.
8. AB # 801-8 COMMISSION APPOINTMENT TO THE COMMUNITY ACTIVITY GRANT CITIZEN
REVLEW COMMITTEE - Commissioner Scott Pieratt was appointed as the Commission representative to
review Community Activity Grant applications.
9. AB # 801-9 PARK DEVELOPMENT UPDATE - The Commission received a status update on the following
park projects: Carrillo Ranch, Alga Norte, Zone 19, Pine School, Trails Report, Dog Park and Zone 5 Ballfield
