RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Receive donation and recommend acceptance by City Council.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
The volunteer Carrillo Ranch Curator, Joan Kindle, has received a donation of Leo Carrillo’s
Furniture for acceptance by the City and is estimated at a value of approximately $1 0,000. This
significant gift comes from Lennar Communities and Elizabeth Wiegand of Carlsbad. There are
eleven (1 1) items in total which include:
One (1) seven drawer office desk used by Mr. Carrillo in the stable/bunkroom
= Ten (IO) authentic Monterey bedroom pieces as follows:
0 Two (2) double beds wltooled leather headboards
One (I) nightstand
0 One (I ) desk
0 One (1) small tooled leather bench (for desk)
0 One (1) armoire
0 Two (2) wall mirrors
0 One (1) five drawer dresser
0 One (I ) large tooled leather bench
at the ranch
The items will be added to the Carrillo Archival Collection for future display at the Ranch.

On behalf of the City of Carlsbad, I would like to thank you and Lennar
Communities for the fabulous donation of Leo Carrillo’s furniture for the
Carrillo Ranch Park. As you are probably aware, the Park will be open to the
public in the near future. Your donation will play an important part in sharing
the history and life of Mr. Leo Carrillo to the many visitors who will tour the
Ranch.
