.AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
Acknowledge the staff achievement for Award of Excellence.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
At the recently held California Parks and Recreation Society Annual Conference in Los Angeles,
the Carlsbad Triathlon and Seaside Celebration received an Award of Excellence for its
Marketing Theme Campaign for a Recreation Program. The principal staff members responsible .
for receipt of this award are Jill Prichard and Elena Coenen-McGuire.
This “Creating Community Award of Distinction” was one of 48 Awards of Excellence that were
announced at the 54th Annual California and Pacific Southwest Recreation and Park Training
Conference held April 3-6.

Congratulations! The City of Carlsbad has been selected as a 2001 California Park and
Recreation Society (CPRS) Award of Excellence winner in the section of Agency Showcase
for Carlsbad Triathalon and Seaside Celebration in the population category of 50-1OOM.
Your agency's award will be presented with the other award winners at the CPRS Awards
and Installation Banquet during the 54'h Annual California Pacific Southwest Recreation
and Park Conference in Los Angeles.

The Awards and Installation Banquet will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at the
Millennium Biltrnore Hotel, 506 South Grand Ave, Los Angeles. The fee for attending the
reception and the banquet is, $68 per person ($78 if purchased after February 8, 2002).
You may purchase your banquet tickets now using the registration form on page 34 of the
preconference brochure.
You are encouraged to bring your elected and/or appointed officials to share in this
prestigious event where all the Award of Excellence winners are honored and the "Creating
Community Award of Distinction" winners are announced. All award winners are
automatically entered to compete for the "Creating Community Award of Distinction."
As an Award of Excellence winner you will receive the following benefits:

Participation in the awards video shown at the Conference General Session on
