RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Receive individual donations of cash and product or in-kind services in support of the June 8,
2003 Carlsbad Triathlon and recommend acceptance by the City Council.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
The following organizations offered donations of $6190 cash and $13,660 in product or in-kind
services in support of this event.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost associated with the donated services and products offset the actual cost of providing this
special event. In order to maintain the caliber, integrity and notoriety that currently exists for the
Carlsbad Triathlon, the cost of providing the $13,660 of donated products, goods and services is
an expense, which would otherwise be required of the General Fund. $6190 in cash donations
has been deposited into the Recreation Triathlon Donations account #149-4502-5651.
Letters of appreciation have already been sent on behalf of the Recreation Department and the
City of Carlsbad to all of the businesses and organizations.
