RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Finalize and approve Committee appointments.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
During the June meeting, several changes were suggested with respect to committee
appointments. Those changes included the following: (refer to Exhibit 1)
• Carrillo Ranch Committee - Add Comstock as alternate
• Aviara Park Committee - Add Lyons as primary and Pacheco as alternate
• Larwin Park - Add Lyons as primary
• Golf Course - Add Comstock as alternate
The Commission deferred endorsing the appointments due to the absence of Commissioner
Hubbard and any preference she may have for appointment to certain committees.
The Commission is requested to finalize the committee selection process pending further
discussion on this item.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Endorse appointments to standing committees on the Parks and Recreation Commission.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Parks and Recreation Commission Committee appointments were last made during the December
2001 meeting. Since that time, Commissioner Davidson has left the Commission and Commissioner
Lyons has recently been appointed.
Although not all committees are actively engaged, staff has depended on the assistance of the
committees from time to time. Most recently, with the City's active park development program,
several of the committees have been assisting with the Larwin Park, Pine School, Alga Norte and
Aviara Park developments.
Currently, the standing committees and their Commission representatives are as follows:
• Park Site Facility and Naming Committee
Pieratt, Alternate - Pacheco
• Trails Committee
Schulberg, Alternate - Hubbard
• Street Tree Committee
Schulberg, Alternate - Hubbard
• Northwest Quadrant Park (Pine School) Committee
Comstock, Alternate - Pacheco
• Carrillo Ranch Committee
Schulberg, Alternate - Vacant
• Aviara Park (Zone 19) Committee
Vacant. Alternate - Pieratt
• Alga Norte Park Committee
Pacheco, Alternate - Pieratt
• Larwin Park Committee
Vacant. Alternate - Cunningham
• Golf Course Committee
Unassigned
• Zone 5 Committee
Cunningham, Alternate - Comstock
Typically, appointments to Committees are made by the Chairperson based upon the expressed
interest of Commissioners to serve on a particular committee. However, although there is an obvious
need to fill some vacancies, since we are actively involved in the development of several park sites,
there may be merit in maintaining the current assignments to those specific committees.
In any event, the Commissions action would be to endorse any appointments that are made at the
conclusion of discussion on this item.
