COMMISSION WORKSHOP AND
AGENDA ITEMS
INFO
ACTION
RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Set date and agenda for Commission workshop.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
During the June meeting, a tentative date(s) was suggested for a Commission workshop.
Unfortunately, due to conflicting vacation schedules the August date(s) did not allow optimum
attendance by staff and Commission members.
At this time we would like to re-schedule the workshop for October. In addition, staff would also
like to establish an agenda of items to be discussed during the workshop. Below is a list of items
for consideration. However, there may be additional items of interest for discussion as well. The
possible agenda items include, but are not limited to the following topics:
Park inventory update
FY 2003-04 CIP Budget / Approved park development projects
Effective meeting procedures
Holiday dinner venue
Public Works Service Plan
Standards of Care (Public Works)
Departmental / individual goals for management staff
Recreation programming
Strategic Plan update
Please keep in mind that the workshop hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 or 2:00 p.m.
Consequently agenda items may need to be limited so that adequate time is allowed to address
each item appropriately. Please consider agenda items for the workshop so that an agenda can
be created and staff can prepare their presentations.

TO: COMMISSIONER LYONS
FROM: SENIOR MANAGEMENT ANALYST
At the June meeting, the Commissioners discussed the issue of a workshop during the
month of August. Specifically, the dates of August 9th or 23rd were selected as potential
dates for the workshop. Unfortunately, due to conflicting schedules and commitments
among Commissioners and staff, the workshop will need to be postponed until early
October.
We will be addressing this issue once again at a future Commission meeting, probably
in August. At that time, we will be better able to select a date that will optimize
attendance by Commissioners and staff. In addition, we will also finalize the workshop
agenda items as part of those discussions.
Enclosed, please find a notice of cancellation of the regularly scheduled July Parks and
Recreation Commission meeting. The meeting has been cancelled due to a lack of
agenda items that need action at this time. We look forward to seeing you all again at
the August 18th meeting.
