SUMMARY REPORT OF AUGUST 18, 2003 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING
CONSENT CALENDAR
1. AB #803-1 SUMMARY REPORT - The Commission approved the Summary Report of the
June Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.
2. AB #803-2 RECEIPT OF DONATION - The Commission received a donation of $19,850 in
cash, goods and services in support of the Carlsbad Triathlon and recommend acceptance by
the City Council.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS
3. AB #803-3 COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS - The Commission (5-0) approved the selection of
appointments to standing committees for the Parks and Recreation Commission.
4. AB #803-4 MEMORIAL DEDICATION POLICY - The Commission (5-0) directed staff to
develop a policy and to include comments from the Commission. These comments included:
the possibility of dedicating benches and other items; the placement and location of plaques at
park sites; and establishing a standardized fee schedule for individual donations.
5. AB #803-5 NAMING OF A FUTURE COMMUNITY PARK fLARWIN) - After staff report, the
Commission recommended (5-0) that the Commission subcommittee review the names that
will be submitted by the residents and for staff to return to the Parks and Recreation
Commission with a recommendation.
6. AB #803-6 COMMISSION WORKSHOP AND AGENDA ITEMS - The Commission
scheduled a workshop for Saturday, October 25th at the Senior Center. Specific agenda ite*
will be determined at the September Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.
