AB #404-1 RECEIPT OF DONATIONS - Cash donations to the Camllo Ranch Trust Fund totaling $1,811 .OO. AB W04-2 RECEIPT OF DONATION - A $500 donation from Wal-Mart in support of the after school Stay-n-Play program. AB #04-3 SPORTSMANSHIP NEWS ARTICLE - San Diego Union Tribune article highlighting the department’s Sportsmanship Program. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 4. 5. 6. 7. AB #404-4 MEMORIAL DEDICATION PROGRAM - By a 6-1 vote, the Commission accepted the draf& Dedication Program as presented by the Public Works Deputy Director (General Services) for donations of trees, park benches, & plaques made in memorium. AB #404-5 CITIZEN REQUESTINORTH COUNTY VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL- By a unanimous vote (7-0), the Commission referred this item back to staff to work with a committee of Commissioners and the applicant to address this request in more detail. Further review will include evaluating a number of issues related to placing such a monument on City-owned (park) property and selected alternative site locations if temporary placement is to be recommended. AB #04-6 POTENTIAL FEE INCREASES FOR RECREATION PROGRAMS & FACILITIES - Staff informed the Commission that potential fee increases would be implemented as part of the budget review and adoption process by City Council. Notification was previously distributed to organized facility user groups as a means of advance notification and an opportunity for public comment. Specific fee increases recommended by staff will be addressed by the Commission during the May 17, 2004 meeting. AB #404-7 CITYWIDE TRAIL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM - Staff updated the Commission regarding Trail Development performed by volunteers at Hidden Canyon Community Park and concerning the addition of several trail segments to the City’s trail system, specifically Arroyo Vista, Villagio & La Costa Glen. AB MO4-8 ALAN UKUNORTH COUNTY BALBOA PARK CONCEPT - Commissioner Hubbard reported to the Commission about efforts by Alan Uke to establish a park, similar to Balboa Park, in North County. Commissioner Hubbard was suggesting that the city of Carlsbad pursue this effort in conjunction with Alan Uke. As a means of addressing this concept further, by a vote of 4-3, the Commission recommended that this issue be presented to the Connecting Community Place & Spirit (CCPS) group for further consideration. 9. AB MO4-9 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION HOLIDAY EVENT 2004 - The Commission unanimously endorsed a staff recommendation to stage a Holiday Event, hosted by the Parks & Recreation Commission at Leo Camllo Ranch, on December 10, 2004. 10. AB MO4-10 PARKS AND RECREATION ELEMENT - The Commission unanimously accepted an informational update on the Parks & Recreation Element of the General Plan, including a history of the Element's revisions and its importance in the operation and development of parks and programs.
