RECEIPT OF DONATION/NSDCAR
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Receive donation of $1,239 from North San Diego County Association of Realtors (NSDCAR) for
acquisition and installation of a flagpole at Aviara Community Park.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Staff was recently approached by a representative of NSDCAR with an offer to donate funds for
the purpose of acquiring and installing a flagpole at Aviara Community Park, which is currently
under construction.
Staff is recommending that the Commission receive the donation and recommend acceptance by
the City Council. If the Commission and City Council concur, funds would be deposited into the
Aviara Community Park construction fund. A thank you letter will be sent on behalf of the City of
Carlsbad and the Parks and Recreation Commission.

are donating $1239.00 to be used for a flag and pole for the new Aviara Park in Carlsbad.
Please contact Ron Surace at 760 734 3971 ext. 222 to arrange scheduling of the
dedication once the flag and pole are installed. We understand that a plaque will be made
to honor this donation.
We, as REALTORSO, have made an effort to give back to the community of North San
Diego County. We hope that with this donation, the families and groups participating in
park activities will feel unity with the citizens of our nation, and pride in all that the flag
represents.

RE: NSDCAR DONATION FOR AVIARA COMMUNITY PARK
Dear Ms. Tetalman:
We are in receipt of your letter of September 29, 2004 regarding your group’s desire to
donate funds toward the installation of a flagpole and flag within the City’s new Aviara
Community Park currently under construction here in Carlsbad.
Our plans already call for the installation of a standard flag pole in front of the
Community Center building within the park to be constructed in a future phase.
However, we do have a location within the park layout, adjacent the baseball / softball
field, where a second flag pole would be a very attractive and appropriate addition to the
park. We have priced out the cost of acquiring and installing another flag pole and flag
and your donation of $1,239 will cover the majority of this cost. Our project contingency
funds can cover the remaining cost.

FAMILl~~ If this installation is acceptable to you and your group, please forward to this office a
check in the amount of your donation made payable to the City of Carlsbad. The City
will thereafter present your check and request to both the City’s Parks and Recreation
Commission and City Council for formal acceptance as is the City’s longstanding
procedure for these type of donations.
DEVELOPING Aviara Community Park is currently under construction with a scheduled completion in
TorAFRF’s the Spring of 2005. We are happy to coordinate this installation into the park’s
construction schedule.
