Receive cash in support of the January 29,2005 Amps, Ramps and Art - Teen Expo special
event and recommend acceptance by the City Council.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
It is the mission of the Carlsbad Recreation Department to provide a fun and safe recreational
environment for the teens of the City of Carlsbad. With that in mind, the Special Events
section developed the Amps, Ramps & Arts - Teen Expo so the teens would have an avenue
to express themselves in a positive manner. In order to reduce the cost to the City and form a
partnership with community businesses a sponsorship program was created.
The department negotiated with EarthProducts' Audio, a company that produces
skateboarding equipment, to be the Presenting Sponsor. The City received $2,000 for Audio's
involvement.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost associated with the sponsorship offset the actual cost of providing this special event
by $2,000 that would otherwise be required of the General Fund. The check has been
deposited into the Recreation Special Events account #001-4524-5054.
Letters of appreciation have already been sent on behalf of the Recreation Department and
the City of Carlsbad to EarthProducts' Audio company.
