RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Receive donation and recommend acceptance by City Manager.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Recently, the City of Carlsbad partnered with Home Depot, and the Friends of Leo Carrillo
Ranch, Inc., to provide new curtains, rods, and finials for two of the bedrooms in Carrillo’s historic
Hacienda. For the past two years, brides have used the bedroom that once belonged to Leo and
his wife Deedie to dress, prepare, and get ready; however, the windows were without necessary
coverings, making complete privacy impossible.
The City’s volunteer curator worked with Mr. Luis Becerra, Store Manager of the new Home
Depot located at 2430 S. Melrose Drive in Vista, and secured an extremely generous donation of
rods, and finials to cover the windows of the two bedrooms. The Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc.
and Joan Kindle provided beautiful sheer curtains. Now the brides enjoy the privacy they
deserve on their most special day.
The total value of the donation is estimated at $275.
Thank you notes have been sent on behalf of the City of Carlsbad, and the Leo Camllo Ranch
Historic Park.
