This event was held at the Carlsbad Community Pool. The 1 ClTs had their own snack bar and raised money for the program. They also earned community service hours. The event helped to kickoff the Halloween spirit. There were many activities for the guest to participate in. For example, kids could throw a hoop in the pool to try to ring a pumpkin. There was also rock climbing arid swimming. The event was a huge success and everyone had a good time. The CIT’s also volunteered leading games, crafts and other activities. I 1 CIT’s Prepare for the Real World ~ On a brisk day in November the CIT’s got a lesson in preparing for the real world when they participated in mock job interviews conducted by Recreation Department staff. The eager teens signed up to sit one-on-one with staff mem- bers Marc Beasley, Aaron Brown and Kevin Granse who ran the kids through the interview process. As Marc Beasley stated, “The kids did really well and seemed really motivated to learn what it takes to get a real job”. At the end of the interviews, CIT staff gave the kids feedback on how they can improve their interviewing skills. The mock interviews were part of a long term curriculum that will also include how to fill out applications, how to dress for in- terviews and how to find employment. It is awesome to see the teens excited about using the skills they have learned in the CIT program. ......................... : Volume 11, Issue 1 : ......................... ......................... i December 2005 .........................
