Summary Report - June 19, 2006 Parks & Recreation Commission meeting July 5,2006 EXHIBIT 1 TO: MAYOR LEWIS MAYOR PRO TEM HALL CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS KULCHIN, PACKARD, SIGAFOOSE FROM: RECREATION DIRECTOR SUMMARY REPORT OF THE JUNE 19, 2006 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING CONSENT CALENDAR - The following consent items were unanimously approved 7-0 1. AB #606-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION) - The Commission unanimously accepted and approved the Summary Report of the May 15, 2006 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. 2. AB # 606-2 RECEIPT OF DONATION - (ACTION) - The Commission received a donation of crafts which totaled $550 in support of Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund. 3. AB # 606-3 RECEIPT OF DONATION - (ACTION) - The Commission received donations totaling $3,497.75 in support of Carrillo Ranch from multiple sources and recommended acceptance from City Council. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 4. AB # 606-4 CARLSBAD TRIATHLON 25™ ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION (INFO) - Staff provided a presentation on this upcoming event which will be held on July 9, 2006. 5. AB # 606-5 COMMISSION COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS (ACTION) - The Commission unanimously endorsed the appointments to the standing committees on the Parks and Recreation Commission. 6. AB# 606-6 CITIZEN REQUEST TO RENAME THE CARLSBAD COMMUNITY GARDEN (ACTION) - After staff presentation and public comment the Commission unanimously recommended that staff forward to the City Council to rename the Carlsbad Community Garden to the Carlsbad Harold E. Smerdu Community Garden. 7. AB# 606-7 SKATEPARKS IN NORTHWEST QUADRANT - (ACTION) - The Commission has requested that staff produce a cohesive report identifying alternative locations and costs for a new skateboard park in the Northwest Quadrant.
