DATE: 09/18/06 STAFF: PRICE SUMMARY REPORT INFO x ACTION RECOMMENDED ACTION: Accept, approve and file ITEM EXPLANATION: Attached is the Summary Report of the August 21, 2006 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission. Summary Report - August 21, 2006 Parks & Recreation Commission meeting August 25, 2006 EXHIBIT 1 TO: MAYOR LEWIS MAYOR PRO TEN HALL CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS KULCHIN, PACKARD, SIGAFOOSE FROM: MANAGEMENT ANALYST SUMMARY REPORT OF THE AUGUST 21, 2006 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING CONSENT CALENDAR - The following consent items were unanimously approved 7-0 1. AB #806-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION) - The Commission unanimously accepted and approved the Summary Report of the June 19, 2006 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. 2. AB # 806-2 RECEIPT OF DONATION - (ACTION) - The Commission received donations of $350 cash and $735 in products in support of the 2006 Carlsbad Health Expo and Triathlon. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 3. AB # 806-3 LIBRARY LEARNING CENTER UPDATE - (INFO) - The Commission received an update from the Library Director on the Carlsbad Library Learning Center's construction project and the impact the project will have on the Holiday Park Tot Lot. Since construction will affect the Learning Center's ongoing lease with the Head Start program, during the construction period while their lease is in effect, Head Start will be provided exclusive use of a portion of the Holiday Park's Tot Lot daily, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 4. AB # 806-4 CALTRANS PRESENTATION ON INTERSTATE 5 WIDENING PROJECT - (INFO) - Arturo Jacobo, Caltrans representative, and Vickie Estrada, representing Estrada Land Planning, provided a presentation to the Commission on conceptual plans for the Interstate 5 Widening project. The representatives indicated that the current concept would have no impact on Holiday Park itself, but that a proposed sound wall would impact the streets and landscaping surrounding the park. 5. AB* 806-5 COMMUNITY ACTIVITY GRANT - CITIZEN REVIEW COMMITTEE - (ACTION) - The Commission unanimously approved the appointment of Commissioner Sally Lyons to serve as the Parks and Recreation Commission representative on the Citizen Review Committee for Community Activity Grants for the 2006/07 term.
