SUMMARY REPORT OF THE SEPTEMBER 18, 2006 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MEETING
CONSENT CALENDAR - The following consent items were unanimously approved 6-0
(Pacheco absent)
1. AB #906-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION) - The Commission accepted and approved the
Summary Report of the August 21, 2006 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.
2. AB # 906-2 RECEIPT OF DONATION - (ACTION) - The Commission received a donation of
$500 cash in support of National Public Lands Day and recommended acceptance by the City
Manager.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS
3. AB #906-3 RECEIPT OF DONATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS - EAGLE SCOUT TRAIL
PROJECTS- (ACTION)
To Commission unanimously (6-0) accepted donations and acknowledged the fundraising efforts
and volunteer work of several Eagle Scouts for their projects to improve the City's Trail network
and recommended acceptance of the donations of Aron Gunnar and Howard Tsai by the City
Manager and of Chris McFadden by the City Council.
4. AB # 906-4 UPDATE ON PUBLIC ART CONCEPT FOR ALGA NORTE PARK AND AQUATICS
CENTER-(INFO)
The Commission received an informational report from Paul Hobson, the artist for the Alga Norte
Community Park and Aquatics Center, regarding the final public art concept for the project.
5. AB # 906-5 HELEN PUTNAM AWARD: T.R.U.S.T. PROGRAM- (INFO)
The Commission received an overview of the T.R.U.S.T. program, including a viewing of a
recently completed video presentation of the program. In addition, the Commission was informed
of the T.R.U.S.T. program's receipt of the Helen Putnam Award from the California League of
Cities on September 6, 2006.
