RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Receive donation and recommend acceptance by City Manager.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
Mr. Marcos Sotelo, Director of the Latin American Soccer League, has generously donated four
brand new soccer goal nets for use at Aviara Community Park.
Mr. Sotelo's league typically plays at Aviara Community Park on Sundays, and during a recent
game he noticed that the aging nets needed to be replaced. Mr. Sotelo approached City staff
and kindly offered to donate and install the new nets. Not only does the Latin American Soccer
League benefit, but a multitude of other resident and non-resident youth and sport leagues that
use the synthetic turf fields will benefit as well.
The City of Carlsbad Recreation Department wishes to acknowledge the generosity of Marcos
Sotelo and the Latin American Soccer League. The new nets will contribute greatly to the
public's overall enjoyment of the fields.
A timely letter of appreciation was sent to Mr. Sotelo and the Latin American Soccer League.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The purchase and donation of the new nets represents a savings of $175.85 to the City's general
fund.
