Summary Report - January 18, 2007 Parks & Recreation Commission meeting \0 January 29, 2007 EXHIBIT 1 TO: MAYOR LEWIS MAYOR PRO TEM KULCHIN CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS HALL, PACKARD, S3GAFOOSE FROM: MANAGEMENT ANALYST SUMMARY REPORT OF THE JANUARY 18, 2007 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING CONSENT CALENDAR - The following consent items were unanimously approved 6-0 (Cooper absent) 1. AB # 0107-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION) - The Commission accepted and approved the Summary Report of the December 8, 2006 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. 2. AB # 0107-2 RECEIPT OF DONATION OF SOCCER GOAL NETTING FOR AWARA COMMUNITY PARK - {ACTION} - The Commission received a donation of soccer goal netting for Aviara Community Park and recommended acceptance by the City Manager. 3- AB » 0107-3 RECEIPT OF GENERAL DONATIONS TO THE LEO CARRILLO RANCH TRUST FUND- (ACTION} - The Commission received a total of $6,623.39 in general cash donations from multiple sources to the Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund and recommended acceptance by the Oty Council. 4- AB # 0107-4 RECEIPT OF DONATION TO THE LEO CARRSLLO RANCH TRUST FUND FROM JOAN KINDLE- (ACTION} - The Commission received a cash donation of $1,520 to the Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund from the proceeds of Joan Kindle's Craft Shoppe at the Holiday at the Rancho event and recommended acceptance by the City Council. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 5- AB # 0107-5 REPORTED DISRUPTIVE BASKETBALL PLAY ON WEEKEND MORNINGS. AS RELATED TO THE CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR THE EXISTING LA COSTA CANYON PARK- (ACTION) - After hearing staff reports and public comments, the Commission unanimously (6-0 /Cooper absent) recommended retaining the current basketball court configuration at La Costa Canyon Park, posting new signage at the basketball court referencing penal code 415 for disturbing the peace, and advising neighbors to work with the Carlsbad Police Department regarding the disturbances. The Commission's recommendations will be forwarded to the Planning Commission. *• AB * 0107-6 APPEAL OF STAFF'S DECISION TO DENY A REQUEST FOR THE REMOVAL OF TWO CITY STREET TREES AT 3354 SEACREST DRIVE - (ACTION) - The Commission unanimously (6-0/Cooper absent) denied an appeal filed regarding staffs denial of a request to remove two City trees on 3354 Seacrest Drive.
