ITEM EXPLANATION: Attached is the Summary Report of the February 12, 2007 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission. EXHIBITS: 1. Summary Report - February 12, 2007 Parks & Recreation Commission meeting (£> March 6, 2007 EXHIBIT 1 TO: MAYOR LEWIS MAYOR PRO TEM KULCHIN CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS HALL, PACKARD FROM: MANAGEMENT ANALYST SUMMARY REPORT OF THE FEBRUARY 12, 2007 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING PRESENTATIONS Michael Caragho, a student from Carlsbad High School, provided a presentation to the Commission regarding Tobacco Control. Public Comment was also heard on the subject. CONSENT CALENDAR - The following consent items were unanimously approved 6-0 (Lyons absent) 1. AB # 0207-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION) - The Commission accepted and approved the Summary Report of the January 18, 2007 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. 2. AB # 0207-2 RECEIPT OF DONA TION OF SOCCER GOAL NETTING AND SUPPORT POLES FOR A VIARA COMMUNITY PARK - (ACTION) - The Commission received a donation of soccer goal netting and support poles for Aviara Communtiy Park and recommended acceptance by the City Council. 3. AB # 0207-3 RECEIPT OF DONATIONS FOR THE T.R.U.S. T PROGRAM AND YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAMS- {ACTION) - The Commission received a donation of $500 in support of the T.R.U.S.T. program and $500 in support of Youth Sports programs, and recommended acceptance by the City Council. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 4. AB # 0207-4- SUB-COMMITTEE SKATEPARK REPORT- (ACTION)) - After hearing reports from Recreation Department staff, the Commission's Skatepark subcommittee, and other City staff members involved in the proposed Police/Fire Training/Public Works Center, the Commission voted unanimously (6-0/Lyons absent) to accept the reports presented and to make a recommendation to the City Council to expand the current Skatepark at the Safety Center.
