SUMMARY REPORT OF THE OCTOBER 15, 2007 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MEETING
CONSENT CALENDAR - The following consent items were unanimously approved 5-0
(Comstock, George absent):
1. AB # 1007-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION] - The Commission accepted and approved the
Summary Report of the September 17, 2007 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.
2. AB # 1007-2 RECEIPT OF DONATIONS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM -
YACT7OAO-The Commission accepted donations of cash and products in support of the Recreation
Department's Opportunity Grants program, and recommended acceptance by the City Council.
3. AB # 1007-3 UPDATE ON LA COSTA CANYON PARK- (INFO) - The Commission received a
follow-up report regarding progress made at La Costa Canyon Park, in relation to prior reports of
disruptive basketball play, and the status of the Park's restroom remodeling project.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS
4. AB # 1007-4 ARENA SOCCER SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT- f ACTION) - The Commission voted
unanimously (5-0/Comstock, George absent) to receive a report from staff and the Arena Soccer
Subcommittee regarding potential sites in the City for a proposed Arena Soccer Facility.
5. AB # 1007-5 SKATEPARK SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT- (ACTION} - The Commission voted
unanimously (6-0/Comstock, George absent) to receive a report from staff and the Skatepark
Subcommittee regarding potential sites in the City for a proposed Skatepark facility.
6. AB # 1007-6 PINE AVENUE PARK-AMERICAN PUBLIC WORKS ASSOCIATION A WAR[>-
(INFO)- The Commission received a report on the American Public Works Association Award
recently received for Pine Avenue Park.
7. AB # 1007-7 COMMUNITY ACTIVITY GRANT-CITIZEN REVIEW COMMITTEE- (ACTION) - The
Commission unanimously approved (5-0/Comstock, George absent) the appointment of
Commissioner Sally Lyons to serve as the Parks and Recreation Commission representative on the
Citizen Review Committee for Community Activity Grants for the 2007/08 term.
