ITEM EXPLANATION: Attached is the Summary Report of the February 4, 2008 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission. EXHIBITS: 1. Summary Report - February 4, 2008 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting April 11, 2008 TO: MAYOR LEWIS MAYOR PRO TEM KULCHIN CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS HALL, PACKARD, NYGAARD FROM: MANAGEMENT ANALYST SUMMARY REPORT OF THE FEBRUARY 4, 2008 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING CONSENT CALENDAR - The following consent items were unanimously approved 6-0 (Martyns absent): 1 . KB # 0208-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION! - The Commission accepted and approved the Summary Report of the December 7, 2007 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. 2. AB # 0208-2 RECEIPT OF DONATIONS- FALL FESTIVAL 2007- {ACTION! - The Commission accepted a donation of cash in support of the Recreation Department's Fall Festival 2007 special event, and recommended acceptance by the City Council. 3. AB # 0208-3 RECEIPT OF DONATION -JOAN KINDLE- (ACTION)- The Commission accepted a cash donation from Joan Kindle to the Leo Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund, and recommended acceptance by the City Council. 4. AB # 0208-4 RECEIPT OF DONATION OF AUDIO VISUAL EQUIPMENT FROM THE FRIENDS OF CARRILLO RANCH. INC. - f ACTION] - The Commission accepted a donation of audio visual equipment from The Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc., and recommended acceptance by the City Council. 5. AB # 0208-5 RECEIPT OF GENERAL DONATIONS TO THE LEO CARRILLO RANCH TRUST FUND - f ACTION) - The Commission accepted general cash donations to the Leo Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund, and recommended acceptance by the City Council. 6. AB # 0208-6 NATURE DEFICIT DISORDER- {INFO) - The Commission received an informational report on "Nature Deficit Disorder" and the Recreation Department's efforts to encourage nature programming for youth. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 7. AB # 0208-7 NAMING RIGHT OPPORTUNITY FOR POINSETTIA PARK TENNIS COURT- {ACTION} The Commission reviewed a donation proposal by the North County Junior Tennis Patrons for naming rights at one of the new Poinsettia Park Tennis Courts, and voted unanimously (6-0/Martyns absent) to recommend acceptance of the proposal by the City Council. 8. AB # 0208-8 SKATEPARK SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT - {ACTION) - The Commission received a staff report, heard comments from the Skatepark Subcommittee, and voted unanimously (6-0/Martyns absent) to recommend the Hosp rove and Calavera sites to the City Council as suggested sites for a proposed Skatepark Facility.
