from staff regarding Alga Node Park, including the proposed skatepark and its relationship to recent
recommendations for an additional skatepark in the City, the Commission unanimously recommended to relay
the following information to the City Council via the Summary Report of the meeting:
'The Parks and Recreation Commission would like to restate their understanding that the Alga Norte
Skatepark was planned as an additional skatepark in the City, rather than a replacement for the potential loss
of the skatepark at the Safety Center. Additionally, if future plans for the Safety Center location do include
removal of the skatepark at that site, the Commission feels strongly that a replacement should be built prior to
its removal. Finally, in light of recent fuel cost increases, the Commission would like to have the City Council
revisit the ordinance prohibiting skateboarding in the Village if the skateboard is being used as a mode of
transportation rather than for recreation."
