RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Receive an update report from the Park Planner on the Adopt-A-Trail Program.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Adopt-A-Trail program offers the opportunity for businesses, community service groups,
individuals, and organizations to become actively involved and contribute towards the expansion
of the City's Trails. This contribution can either be done through a one-year volunteer
commitment to trails by maintaining a designated trail within the City or through cash
sponsorships to be used towards various trail amenities, for various trail improvements or special
projects.
Volunteer Opportunities:
0 Adopt a segment of trail for 1 year (or more) and provide routine trail maintenance
duties.
Sponsorship Opportunities:
0 Special Trail Projects - Sponsors can contribute donations towards the construction
for a segment of City trail or trail amenities.
0 General Sponsorship- Donations are also welcome for a variety of trail needs such
as, signage, tools, lumber, fencing, small equipment, concrete, decomposed granite
and other materials.
Suggested levels and categories for Sponsorship include:
Trail Treker $500-$1,500
Trail Friend $1,500- $2,500
Trail Keeper $2,500-$5,000
Trail Blazer $5,000-$10,000
Marketing for this program will start with the use of the City's website, an Adopt-A-Trail brochure
that outlines the program and use of the City's Community Volunteer Coordinator network. The
target groups include community service organizations, such as Rotary, Optimist Clubs, Scout
troops, as well as local corporations and businesses.
