Present: Chairperson Lyons, Commissioners Comstock, Craig, Farley, Martyns.
Absent: Commissioner Cooper, Proulx
CONSENT CALENDAR
The following items were unanimously approved 4-0.
Commissioner Martyns arrived late:
1. AB # 0309-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION)
The Commission accepted and approved the Summary Report of the February 2,2009 Parks and
Recreation Commission Meeting.
2. AB # 0309-2 ACCEPTANCE OF DONATIONS - 2009 Teen Scene: Battle of the Bands in-kind
Donations • (ACTION]
The Commission recommended City Council accept the donations in support of Special Event programs.
3. AB # 0309-3 ACCEPTANCE OF DONATIONS - 2009 Volunteer Contributions in-kind
Donations - (ACTION}
The Commission recommended City Council accept the donations from the California Coastal Rose
Society in support of the Magee House Rose Garden.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS
The following action item was unanimously approved 5-0:
4. AB # 0309-4 DEPARTMENT REPORT - (INFO)
The Commission received a report from the Parks & Recreation Director on recent events and project
work completed throughout the Department. The presentation included updates for the: Cost Recovery
Model (Pyramid), Poinsettia Tennis Program Public Meeting, CPRS Awards for two Parks & Recreation
Staff Members, Leo Carrillo Ranch Projects, Future Alga Norte Park, Budget Update, Drought Update,
Envision Carlsbad Community Meetings, Events Completed Last Month, Upcoming Events, and a Future
Park Tour.

5. AB # 0309-5 ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION - 2009 Leo Carrillo Ranch Donation from
Marlev White - (ACTION)
The Commission received a report from staff and recommends City Council accept the $5,000 donation
from Marley White, a volunteer, to support specific projects at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park.
6. AB * 0309-6 CHASE FIELD CONCESSION STAND UPDATE - (INFO)
The Commission received a report from staff regarding the recent improvements at Chase Field
Concession Stand. Tom Watson from Carlsbad Youth Baseball was in the audience to show his
appreciation of the improvements.
7. AB # 0309-7 PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING LOCATIONS • fACTION)
The Commission received a report from staff regarding the benefits from moving the Commission
meetings to various Parks & Recreation facilities. The Commission liked the idea of community outreach
and will visit different locations over the next 6 months.
