APPROVAL OF MINUTES By proper motion, the Minutes of the Parks & Recreation Commission meeting of May 15, 2017 were approved. Approved 7-0-0-0 PRESENTATIONS Parks & Recreation Director Chris Hazeltine presented outgoing Commissioner Jason Hansen with an appreciation of service plaque. CONSENT CALENDAR 1. SR # 0617-1 COMMISSION SUMMARY REPORT – (ACTION) The Commission accepted and approved the Summary Report of the May 15, 2017 Parks & Recreation Commission meeting. Approved 7-0-0-0 PUBLIC OPEN FORUM None DEPARTMENT REPORTS 2. SR # 0617-2 ADOPT PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING CALENDAR – (ACTION) Chairman Simons, requested the Commission consider and adopt the new Fiscal Year Calendar for 2017/2018 Parks & Recreation Commission Meetings as proposed. Approved 7-0-0-0 3. TOUR  Ocean Street Beach Access Improvements Project. Park Services Manager Kyle Lancaster gave a brief overview of Carlsbad Village Drive beach access point plans. Fire Battalion Chief Nick Ordille and Paramedic Firefighter Chris Peters discussed the Lifeguard Pilot Program that covers the beach from Oak Avenue to the city’s northern border. At the next stop Kyle Lancaster gave an overview of the Beech Ave beach access point plans.  Pine Ave Community Park Improvements Project. Park Services Manager Kyle Lancaster and Municipal Projects Manager Steve Didier were available to give an overview of the ongoing Community Center and Gardens construction site.  Lunch at the Alga Norte Community Park Dive-in Grill. Recreation Area Manager Lori Swenck set up an opportunity for the Commissioners to serve root beer floats to the Aquatics Camp participants. Recreation Area Manager Jeanette Gant then gave the Commissioners a tour of the Alga Norte Community Park Aquatic Center.  Tamarack Picnic Facilities and Coastal Bluffs.
